Choice Food Distribution

Thousands of families in the Omaha metro don’t have access to the meals they need. At our choice food distribution, community members can choose from a variety of bread, meat, produce, and canned or boxed items. Clients are able to use the pantry once every 30 days*.

Monen Healthcare Clinic

The Monen Healthcare Clinic provides free basic medical care on a walk-in basis. Creighton University nurse practitioners can treat everyday health concerns like the flu, sore throat or infections. Basic screenings for diabetes and blood pressure, as well as flu shots are available.

Fresh Start Job Placement Program

Fresh Start is an intensive 15-20 week program that offers participants an opportunity to learn job skills, effective workplace communication and customer service skills while helping to serve others in the community. The Center provides employment placement assistance for graduates of the program.

Dental Clinic

Volunteer dentists provide free dental care to clients at the Heart Ministry Center. Dental services are focused on pain alleviation through teeth extractions and cavity fillings.

A Way Forward

Our case management division is now A Way Forward, and our focus has transitioned from short-term assistance with household bills to long-term solutions for willing partners wanting to make a lasting change toward self-sufficiency.

Orientation sessions for A Way Forward are held every Wednesday at Heart Ministry Center from 10 – 11 am or from 12 -1 pm

Diapers and toiletries distributed every Thursday from 10 am – 12 pm. First come, first serve.

Holidays and Special Events

Throughout the year, the center offers various special events to better meet the needs of clients. These special events may include holiday pantries, back-to-school events, health screenings or block parties. Check the center calendar or contact the Center to ask about upcoming events.

Additional Services

The Heart Ministry Center offers other services and programs on a weekly or monthly basis. Attorneys provide free legal advice on civil matters related to family law, employment and landlord-tenant disputes. 

* Heart Ministry receives a portion of our food from the USDA through the Emergency Food Assistance Program, also known as TEFAP. No ID or additional information is required to receive TEFAP food(s) as long as you are under the monthly gross income guidelines and a Nebraska resident.
