Cooking Up a Community Connection

Last October, Heart Ministry Center celebrated our mission in North Omaha with a Community BBQ, thanks to a dedicated team of volunteers. Dave Egan and the CEC Men’s Group provided food and fun for hundreds of community members and the students of Sacred Heart School. Smiles were abundant when delicious food was served, and guests participated in activities, danced along to live music, and voted at the HMC staff pumpkin carving contest.
The event recognized one family that exemplifies dedication to our mission through ongoing volunteer work in the food pantry. Congratulations to the Verzal Family, the 2024 Big Lou Heart Heroes Volunteer Award recipient. We thank them all for being a Part of the Heart!
Crystal Seefus received the Aaron Schneider Fresh Start Excellence Award. She graduated from the Fresh Start Job Training Program in 2021 and she continues to live the core values of compassion, community, accountability, and excellence while working on staff as a Fresh Start facilitator. We are so proud of all she has accomplished.
