Breaking Barriers: Monen Clinic’s Healthcare Approach Gains National Attention

The Monen Healthcare Clinic at Heart Ministry Center will present at an upcoming healthcare conference, Collaborating Across Borders IX, co-hosted by Creighton University and University of Nebraska Medical Center in May 2025. The presentation will allow the clinic to showcase the innovative interprofessional approach to addressing healthcare disparities in urban settings. The clinic’s success in providing comprehensive care to over 6,000 clients in 2024 while distributing 4 million pounds of food annually garnered attention from healthcare leaders nationwide.
The conference will highlight the Monen Healthcare Clinic’s unique collaboration with Creighton University, integrating multiple healthcare professions to meet the complex needs of the Heart Ministry Center community. This recognition validates the Heart’s commitment to serving those severely affected by poverty and provides an opportunity to share the clinic’s collaborative care delivery and student education model. Monen Healthcare team staff look forward to demonstrating how this unique approach enhances healthcare for this vulnerable population and provides transformative learning experiences that shape the future of healthcare practice and community service.
Amy Holmes, chief operating officer of Heart Ministry Center, emphasized the importance of the clinic’s work: “The Monen Healthcare Clinic is providing valuable services and using an innovative and unique model. We are grateful for our partnerships with institutions like Creighton University, UNMC, and all of our partners, which make our services possible. We are actively looking for ways to serve more patients as the demand for our services far outweighs our current capacity.
